Keep lessons current and attributable: version information, credits, and one shared pass

Description

Discussed in the Office Hours on August 22, 2026 #3640. Sensei has meta fields for the highest tested WordPress version and for the people involved in a lesson (producer, reviewer, translator). Neither is surfaced on the front end, because access to the templates is missing. Both concern the same lessons and the same pass through the content, so they are handled together.

Work steps

• Obtain access to the Sensei templates from the Meta team so that both fields can be displayed
• Once access is granted, schedule a working session for the TT-Admins, hand out access, and split the lessons into blocks (owner: Sumit)
• Go through the existing lessons and set version information and credits in the same step
• Flag or withdraw content that only works with older WordPress versions
• Create a second version, valid from WordPress 7.0 onwards, for heavily changed lessons
• Decide which roles are credited and in what form
• Record who updates the version information when WordPress releases a new version
• Openly ask for help with the pass, so the work does not depend on one person

Context

Labeling already happens on the side, without a defined owner. For beginners, the gap between the lesson and their own installation is the point where they give up. Credits were standard practice in the 2020 team. Once the language connection works (issue A), every lesson has to be opened once anyway, which is the right moment for both fields.
