Description
The sidebar automatically opens when opening a new database. I often close it upon opening a new database. It would be nice if there were an option to remember whether the sidebar was open/closed on shutdown so that state may be restored on the next launch, rather than having to close it manually every time.

Research direction
The issue names no file, test, or entry point. Start by locating the sidebar state and shutdown/startup preference handling, then determine how database opening currently sets the sidebar. Done means an option can persist the open or closed state across shutdown and restore it on the next launch.
