Description

Your system information
  • Steam client version: no idea just started it up, probably the newest since i just bought this new
  • SteamOS version: same as above
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: [/No]
  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: [/No]
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: [/No] but i literally just turned it on for the first time
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen.

i bought a steam deck earlier this week - specifically the 1 TB OLED new off steam. i am currently going through setup and on the connect to wifi step i keep running into the same error that says failed to connect when i am 100% confident i am putting the correct password in. i have restarted both my device as well as the router and neither has fixed the issue. i also tried adding some of the advanced information but that didn’t help either. my wifi router is connected on both 5 G and 2.4 G as well as LAN2 if that affects anything

Steps for reproducing this issue:
  1. get brand new steam deck
  2. open up
  3. go through steps to set up
  4. Failed to Connect re-enter password for wifi when i know its correct

Research direction

No repository file or test is identified. Start by reproducing the first-time Steam Deck setup failure, then collect the Steam client and SteamOS versions and the Wi-Fi configuration involved. Done means identifying a reproducible cause and verifying that setup connects successfully with the correct password.
