Xbox Wireless Controller repeatedly disconnects from Steam Deck OLED over Bluetooth

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

My Xbox Wireless Controller cannot maintain a stable Bluetooth connection with my Steam Deck OLED.

I expect the controller to remain connected after Bluetooth pairing and the Xbox button to stay continuously illuminated.

Instead, the controller initially connects and can control the Steam Deck interface, but the Xbox button continues blinking. SteamOS then displays a “controller disconnected” notification approximately every 10 seconds. The controller repeatedly disconnects and eventually disappears from the list of paired Bluetooth devices.

Troubleshooting already performed:

• Updated the Steam Deck to SteamOS 3.8.16.
• Checked for additional SteamOS updates.
• Restarted both the Steam Deck and the controller.
• Removed the controller from the Bluetooth device list and paired it again.
• Repeated the pairing process with Wi-Fi completely disabled.
• Tested the controller with approximately 50% battery charge.
• Connected the same controller to macOS over Bluetooth. It remains connected, the Xbox button stays continuously illuminated, and all controls work correctly.
• The issue therefore appears to be specific to the Bluetooth connection between the controller and Steam Deck OLED.

This may be related to issue #2530, although that report concerns Steam Deck LCD and disabling Wi-Fi does not resolve the problem on my Steam Deck OLED:

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. Open Settings > Bluetooth on a Steam Deck OLED.
2. Put the Xbox Wireless Controller into Bluetooth pairing mode by holding its pairing button until the Xbox button starts blinking rapidly.
3. Select “Xbox Wireless Controller” from the available Bluetooth devices.
4. Wait for the controller to connect.
5. Observe that the controller can temporarily control the Steam interface, but the Xbox button continues blinking instead of remaining continuously illuminated.
6. Observe repeated “controller disconnected” notifications approximately every 10 seconds.
7. After several connection attempts, observe that the controller disconnects and disappears from the list of paired Bluetooth devices.

No source files or tests are identified; done means the controller stays connected, the Xbox button remains illuminated, disconnect notifications stop, and the device remains paired.
