Research direction

Start by reproducing the reported Unity3D DX11 resolution-switch failure using the issue's 1280x720 example and inspect the Proton or Wine graphics path involved. Done means the game can switch to the requested resolution without the reported DX11 errors; the issue does not name a source file or test to run.
