Symptoms

Game seems to work fine in desktop mode getting to the main menu and even ingame, however when running it in game mode, it gets stuck visually on this upside down logo, making it impossible to play any further, though I can hear menu noises. It also seems that using"Wine-7.2-GE-2" seems to fix it in gaming mode on deck. The sequel (which is also on gog) seems to have the same issue.

Buy the game on gog, then find a way to install it on your deck. (I used the Heroic Games Launcher to do it), then launch the game through gaming mode.

Start by reviewing the attached Proton log and the reported reproduction steps: install Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force from GOG on a Steam Deck, then launch it through gaming mode using Proton Experimental. Compare the desktop-mode and gaming-mode behavior, including the Wine-7.2-GE-2 workaround. Done means the game progresses past the upside-down logo in gaming mode.
