  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

The game always crashes in the same section of the first episode, which makes the game completely unplayable. This crash also has a chance to delete the save file.

Also shadows don't always render correctly. This can be seen in the main menu, where the camera rotates around the main characters. There is a huge skeleton in the background that has glitchy shadows.

Reproduction

Crash: Play the game until you reach the part where Rhys exits the camper.
Shadows: Random dynamic shadows everywhere in the game

Note

If the player uses the compatibility setting with Proton 5.13-6, then the game won't crash, but all the shadows either don't render, or a extremely glitchy and the chance of losing the save game still exists.

Log

Couldn't be attached, because it is compressed more than 250MB (17GB uncompressed)

Research direction

Start by reproducing the crash when Rhys exits the camper on Steam Deck with Proton 8.0-3, and compare it with Proton 5.13-6. The report provides no source files or tests and the log is unavailable; done would require preventing the crash and save loss while correcting the dynamic shadow rendering.
