Symptoms

Whenever i try to launch Vacant Kingdom (appid 1704730), the Main Menu loads with Music playing but no control over the cursor ingame.
Switching windows on the main monitor is impossible at this point already, but i can use the mouse on my second monitor.
After about 10 seconds, other programs also start to freeze up until eventually the entire system is frozen/unusable.
Killing the game process via a TTY also does not resolve the issue. The PC stays frozen. Restarting the desktop session via the Login Manager just the same resolves nothing unfortunately.

I'm on Gnome 44.2, using Wayland.
The logs hopefully contain more information, as running steam from the terminal does not produce any visible bits of log right there.

Begin with the linked system information Gist and the Proton 8.0 launch on GNOME 44.2 and Wayland; verify whether the freeze is reproducible and collect the requested Proton log. Done means isolating a reproducible compatibility cause and documenting or addressing it with evidence that launching no longer freezes the desktop.
