Description

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Puzzle Kingdoms
  • Steam AppID of the game: 23700

System Information

  • Steam Deck
  • Steam OS 3.4.8
  • Proton version: 8.0-2, 7.0-6, 4.11-13
    sysinfo.txt

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
    steam-23700.log

Symptoms

When run via Steam the game immediately closes after launch. In desktop mode there is a brief moment when a black rectangle of the game is visible.
The game does successfully launch when using plain Wine 8.0 via Lutris. Changing runtime to Proton in Lutris makes the game not launch anymore.

Reproduction

  • Install Puzzle Kingdoms on the Steam Deck
  • Try to launch it

Research direction

Reproduce the launch failure on Steam Deck with the listed Proton versions, then inspect sysinfo.txt and steam-23700.log for evidence about the immediate exit. Done means identifying the compatibility cause or documenting a confirmed fix so Puzzle Kingdoms launches through Steam Proton.
