Symptoms
- Game freezes and goes to very low fps, at first it was working without disabling (VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_KHR_present_id,VK_KHR_present_wait)
but after 1 hour of playing the game and wanting to start it, it doesn't start anymore, so looking here in the proton github I saw that there is a bug with the latest nvidia drivers, so I activated (VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_KHR_present_id,VK_KHR_present_wait) then the game returned to work but it keeps going at low fps and keeps freezing after a while of play.
(I know the game is in beta but I'm trying to help make the final version functional on Linux and steam deck in general)
Reproduction
- Start game from steam, with nvidia present id and wait enabled or disabled.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the linked Proton log and system information report, then reproduce the freeze and low-FPS behavior from Steam with the listed VKD3D and NVIDIA-related variables enabled and disabled. Compare the results to determine whether the report still reproduces and what evidence identifies the compatibility failure; done requires a confirmed diagnosis or fix.
