Can't launch the game, an error window appears regarding DX12 and SM6.0 support

I saw these errors pop up in he terminal during prefix creation step:

But the files are there, so this might not mean anything.

Reproduction

Clicking play

Begin with the attached steam-2357010.log and the reported DX12/SM6.0 launch failure; reproduce it by clicking Play under Proton Experimental or Proton 8. Compare the prefix-creation d3d12core.dll errors with the displayed error. Done means identifying a reproducible Proton-side cause and confirming whether the game launches, but the issue names no source file or test.
