Description

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm
  • Steam AppID of the game: 319280

System Information

  • 512 GB Steam Deck
  • Proton version: Experimental

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

Tried to launch the game on deck, but it shows the spinning steam logo for a few seconds before silently exiting out to the game page (Checking the log and the protondb page, apparently this error might be the cause).

err:module:import_dll Library MFC42.DLL (which is needed by L"E:\steamapps\common\Yatagarasu\YatagarasuLauncher.exe") not found

You can get the game to launch on deck by swapping the names of "YatagarasuLauncher.exe" and "game.exe" to skip the launcher and the game seems to work alright-ish, but it seems like it has some weird quirks still, like rapidly trying to bring up the virtual keyboard until you get to the title screen or the game intro playing the color bars instead. (I checked inside the game folder and guessing the problem for the intro is the op.wmv file)
steam-319280.log

Reproduction

Try and launch the game.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the launch failure on a Steam Deck with Proton Experimental and inspect steam-319280.log, focusing on YatagarasuLauncher.exe, game.exe, MFC42.DLL, and op.wmv. Compare the normal launch with the reported executable-name workaround; done means the game launches normally and the title-screen and intro quirks no longer occur.
