From whatever version of Proton that was, and the current Experimental Proton, there's still no background music, but sound effects work. I've confirmed they're the files' BGM folder, and I can play them with VLC Player, but can't hear them in-game. And there's no way to adjust volume so I haven't accidentally muted the BGM.
