Description
Whitelist Request
- Name of the game to be whitelisted: Railroad Tycoon 3
- Steam AppID of the game: 7610
System Information
- GPU: GTX 970
- Driver/LLVM version: nvidia 525.78.01
- Distro version: Fedora 37 / Freedesktop runtime 22.08
- Link to full system information report as Gist:
- Proton version: 7.0-5
I confirm:
- that pressing the
Playbutton in the Steam client is sufficient. - that runtime config options are necessary to run the game.
- that no workarounds other than PROTON_* env variables are necessary.
Issues
- I haven't experienced any issues.
- There are no issues left open for this game.
- Although I consider the gaming experience equal to Windows there are remaining issues: The game once crashed when tabbing out, but I think this is a game bug. The GOG version of the game disables alt-tabbing entirely due to "stability glitches": https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/213039565?product=gog (go to https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/213530709-Railroad-Tycoon-3?product=gog and press "Other issues" — the article will be linked there). Notably, this game doesn't even launch on Windows versions Vista and above without workarounds, so I would consider the gaming experience to be superior to Windows even.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the Proton issue template and existing game-compatibility reports for Steam AppID 7610. Confirm the reported launch behavior on Fedora 37 with Proton 7.0-5 and check whether the remaining alt-tab crash is already tracked elsewhere. Done means the game's compatibility status and remaining issue are documented consistently with related reports.
