Description
Proton version: experimental-7.0-20230113
OS: SteamOS 3.5 20230110.1000
Sometimes, when starting new games, Proton will fail to create new prefixes, for one reason or another.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the failure described in the terminal output, including the pfx/creation_sync_guard case, on the reported Proton and SteamOS versions. Trace the new-prefix creation path and verify that starting a new game reliably creates a usable prefix without requiring a copied prefix or Proton-GE.
