Description
Hello, I've been unable to run any game on steam with proton.
So far, I've tryed Age of Empires 2 DE and Bad North, both crash silently 5 seconds after hitting PLAY.
Im on Fedora 33 Kernel 5.17.12-100.fc34.x86_64, the SteamLibrary folder is located in a EXT4 partition on an external USB HDD.
Steam Package: steam.i686 1.0.0.74-2.fc34 @rpmfusion-nonfree-updates
The log files show the same error for both games using Experimental and 7.0-5
392.494:00c0:00c4:err:module:open_builtin_so_file failed to load .so lib "/mnt/usb-WD_My_Passport_0820_575837314139334636313839-0:0-part2/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Proton - Experimental/files/lib64/wine/x86_64-unix/steam.exe.so"
wine: failed to start L"c:\\windows\\system32\\steam.exe"
Application could not be started, or no application associated with the specified file.
The mentioned file .../files/lib64/wine/x86_64-unix/steam.exe.so has all the permissions for my user.

The entire log file steam-688420.log
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Research direction
Start by reading the attached steam-688420.log and the reported Proton Experimental and 7.0-5 failure at the external EXT4 SteamLibrary path. Reproduce launching Age of Empires 2 DE or Bad North on Fedora 33 with the stated kernel and package; done means the games launch without the reported steam.exe.so error or silent crash.
