I couldn't get this to work or I couldn't find where the log file is added on the Steam Deck.

Symptoms

When exiting the game from game mode on the Steam Deck and launching it again, 50% of the time you will get a blank screen when the Playonline launcher launches. In order to fix, you have to close the game, go to desktop mode and launch the game again. The game will launch and then you can go back to game mode to launch the game without a blank screen. Forcing Proton version 4.11 or earlier will launch the game from Game Mode correctly 100% of the time. It is almost like when exiting the game, the playonline launcher location is offscreen and remains offscreen when launching the game again.

Reproduction

To reproduce, on Steam Deck, launch Final Fantasy XI from the playonline launcher, then exit the game. Launch the game again. If PlayOnline appears correctly, repeat launching Final Fantasy XI and closing. Launch until you get a blank screen (shouldn't take long. Seems like it working is more the exception).

The report names no repository files, tests, or entry points. Start by reproducing the repeated Steam Deck Game Mode launch sequence with Proton versions newer than 4.11, then compare it with Proton 4.11 or earlier and review the available compatibility information. Done means the blank PlayOnline screen is consistently reproduced and the issue has a verified fix or a clearly documented limitation.
