Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

when trying out the pre-release demo of Cardfight Vanguard Dear Days, some rendering issues can be fixed using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 as a parameter on start however that only works in desktop mode, in game mode the game doesnt even really start.

with the previous bug fixed I am gonna move the new one up so comment scrolling isnt needed.

now whenever you have to type something the game will crash if you do type something, or display a black/white checkerboard pattern if you just press enter

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. get a game that needs PROTON_USE_WINED3D to properly render some stuff (e.g. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1881420/Cardfight_Vanguard_Dear_Days/ )
2. see it working in desktop mode
3. see it not start in game mode

get to a place where you need to enter things (e.g. card search)

a) press a letter key -> crash

Start by reproducing the letter-key crash and the checkerboard result after pressing Enter in Cardfight!! Vanguard Dear Days on SteamOS Game Mode. Review crash.log and display issue.log, then verify that text entry no longer crashes or produces the checkerboard display.
