Symptoms
The game freezes on regular intervals, usually around the same areas. For example, the intro cinematic freezes about 30 seconds in, consistently. I am able to move forward by changing the proton version or moving to handheld, but the game will freeze at another point. When it freezes, the game audio will keep working, but the game itself is completely frozen. Not dark screen, the steam overlay still works and I am able to close the game without issue.
I tried on multiple version and builds of proton (like ProtonGE), handheld or docked, with or without the SD card, it only changes where the freeze happens. I also reset my system with factory setting and by reinstalling Steam OS. Nothing seems to solve the issue.
Reproduction
Start the game, select the male character. The cinematic will start, it should freeze consistently when the first soldier gets connected to the brain link thing. The music will keep going, but the image freezes as soon as the connector make contact and the soldier starts screaming. It's that consistent.

Research direction
Reproduce Scarlet Nexus with Proton 7.0-4 using the male-character intro sequence and compare behavior across the Proton versions mentioned in the report. Start by inspecting the attached steam-775500.log alongside the stated AMD GPU, Mesa, kernel, and SteamOS details. Done means the recurring cinematic freeze is explained and a validated compatibility fix or clear upstream diagnosis is available.
