Symptoms
Starting "new game" from main menu causes game to exit.
Logs show there is problem with GStream plugin being not found:
winegstreamer error: decodebin0: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in.
winegstreamer error: decodebin0: ../src-gst_base/gst/playback/gstdecodebin2.c(4719): gst_decode_bin_expose (): /GstBin:bin0/GstDecodeBin:decodebin0:
no suitable plugins found:
Couldn't set protonvideoconverter0 to READY
However, that does not seem fatal (maybe intro video missing?). Later the log has:
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0000000000000018 at address 0000000140BB1BD3 (thread 022c), starting debugger...
And after that there is stacktrace.
Reproduction
- press "play" to start game
- select "new game" from main menu
- observe game exit

Research direction
Start by reproducing the exit with Proton 7.0-4 or experimental using the listed three steps. Inspect steam-1732190.log around the winegstreamer plugin errors and the later unhandled page fault, then determine whether the missing plugin or crash is actionable. Done means identifying a cause and verifying that selecting New Game no longer exits.
