Description
Compatibility Report
- Name of the game with compatibility issues: Vtube Studio
- Steam AppID of the game: 1325860
System Information
- GPU: Radeon RX 570
- Driver/LLVM version: Mesa-git from the AUR
- Kernel version: -git, from Fedora Rawhide's repos
- Link to full system information report as Gist: https://gist.github.com/orowith2os/7c59734534bd69c3da05d22accf076a5
- Proton version: Any
- ADDITIONAL NOTES: I am running Steam through Distrobox (Podman). The host is Fedora Rawhide. I've confirmed that this issue happens when it's all native as well. It also seems that Human Fall Flat has this issue as well, judging from a conversation with a user on Discord.
I confirm:
- that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
- that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms
Camera does not work at all. The game detects it, but it can't view it at all. I've verified that this is the case with normal Wine as well.
I can, however, run OpenSeeFace to track and it works just fine.
Reproduction
Run the app as normal, and try to use a system webcam (no external facetracker).
You can also try this with VSeeFace and see that this issue happens there as well. VSeeFace also has a tutorial on getting it to work with Linux and macOS.

Research direction
No source files, tests, or entry points are identified. Start by reproducing the camera failure in VTube Studio or VSeeFace under Proton or Wine, using the linked system-information Gist and comparing with OpenSeeFace, which works for the reporter. Done means the system webcam is detected and usable by the affected application.
