Symptoms

Chime displays test patterns(?) on the main menu and in the background during gameplay, instead of video.

Also, a major regression seems to have happened since Proton 6; once you enter the main menu, the game will slow to single-digit framerates. If you manage to get in-game, the low framerate makes the game effectively unplayable. This does not happen in earlier versions of Proton.

Reproduction

1. Boot up Chime in Proton 7.0-4
2. Notice test patterns in the main menu and in-game, notice terrible framerate

Start by reproducing Chime with Proton 7.0-4 on the reported Steam Deck setup, then inspect the attached steam-62100.zip Proton log and compare behavior with earlier Proton versions. Done means the main menu and gameplay no longer show test patterns and the severe single-digit framerate regression is resolved.
