Symptoms

The game loses some textures for the textboxes making it unplayable on the Steam Deck.
I created a dxvk.conf and tried all possible options (no change). I also tried all Proton versions from 4 onward up to
Proton experimental. Furthermore I tested with Proton GE7.4 no change.

Reproduction

Interestingly the game works more or less flawless on my desktop (tested on Fedora 33/35 with kernels 5.13 till 5.19). Also the log does not show any obvious errors and seems to be the same as on desktop. So I am not even sure if this is a Proton issue in the first place, but rather a problem of drivers/kernel on the Deck. Could someone verify, or give me pointers what to try next, or where to report?

Start by reproducing the missing textbox textures on the Steam Deck with the available Proton versions, then compare the result with the Fedora desktop behavior described in the report. Review the dxvk.conf experiments and the corresponding logs. Done means identifying whether the cause is Proton, DXVK, or the Deck’s drivers or kernel, and documenting the appropriate next step.
