Description

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Miner Wars 2081
  • Steam AppID of the game: 223430

System Information

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Proton log: steam-223430.log

Games crash log: MinerWars.log
(edited to remove my steam key on line 12, otherwise untouched)

Symptoms

Game launches, and you can get to the main menu.

However this is where the issues start, the background of the main menu is supposed to be a video, instead it just has some like test output thing? (not my video but I found this on YouTube, the beginning here shows what the background video on the main menu should look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmqIAQwPZNM)

Also as soon as you try to start playing the game, I tried single player here, it will crash.

Reproduction

  1. Launch the game with default Steam settings
  2. Click on 'Singleplayer/Co-op'
  3. Click on 'New game'
  4. Click on 'Normal'
  5. Crash.

Research direction

Start by reading the attached steam-223430.log and MinerWars.log, then reproduce the failure using the listed Steam menu steps. Done means determining whether the main-menu video rendering and single-player crash can be addressed in Proton, with the result verified against the same reproduction sequence.
