Research direction
Start by reproducing the report with games using the EOS version of EAC across Proton versions, observing the first EAC window and the Steam overlay or Steam Input afterward. Compare the behavior with Steam Deck, where the issue is not reported. Done means the game retains overlay and Steam Input functionality after the EAC window closes.
