- Proton version: 7.0-1 and experimental. in version 6.3-8 i do not have these issues.
I confirm:
- that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
- that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms
when i try to start a match sometimes, when it takes too long to find a match, it opens the loading screen and gets stuck there, with it eventually showing the text "something's not quite right" beneath the board in the loading screen. when i close the game and restart it doesn't affect my rating so i assume this happens only with AI.
i haven't have this happen to me with practice mode only on rated matches, but i may have just been lucky as i haven't played practice a lot.

i haven't encountered this bug when playing in proton 6.3-8
Reproduction
use proton 7.0-1 or experimental, then unlock rated play and then try to play, eventually you will get stuck on the load screen, there isn't anything which makes you certain to get this bug, but it isn't uncommon, once i tried to play and got stuck on the loading screen 5 times in a row. so i assume it isn't random, i just don't know what causes it.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the attached steam-1064340.log and comparing Proton 7.0-1 and experimental with Proton 6.3-8 using the reported rated-match reproduction. No source files or tests are named; done would require identifying the cause of the stuck loading screen and verifying that rated matches no longer fail on the affected Proton versions.
