Symptoms
A) To run the game, you need to have PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 and select "Do not use Direct 3D drawing for motion display" from "advanced" menu within the game (press Alt to get it to appear).
This is same as #5567 and common with a few other games as well.
B) When game enters opening video (end of first/prologue chapter) video and sound playback is choppy.
This case has following in the Proton log:
61764.252:0118:027c:err:evr:video_mixer_transform_SetOutputType picked dxva device {5a54a0c9-c7ec-4bd9-8ede-f3c75dc4393b}

61764.281:0118:027c:fixme:mfplat:color_converter_ProcessMessage Unhandled message type 10000003.
Reproduction
A)
- start the game, notice black screen
B)
- play game until the opening scene, observe playback and sound

Research direction
Start by reproducing both symptoms with Proton 7.0 using the listed system details: the black screen and the choppy opening video and audio. Read steam-1829980.log alongside the reproduction steps and the reported evr and mfplat messages. Done means the game starts without the workaround and the opening scene plays smoothly.
