Symptoms

The problem is that the main game has cut scenes that show a blank screen with music playing between some of the levels. They require particular key presses to get out of them. I figured out that I can move my joystick around and press buttons to get out of the cut scene so the next level will load.

Reproduction

Play the main game called Full Sequence Order and between some of the levels like 5 and 6 there will be cut scenes. The game changes patterns based on how well the player plays so there maybe other cut scenes between different levels that are triggered. When there is no cut scene a screen between levels loads up with an option to continue and choose an alternative level to play if one is available. I was playing with the character Minogame and the character is changed in the main menu by moving the joystick left or right. In the Symptoms in 2) below I mentioned setting the Caption in Video Settings to "Without Always" and the game was played with that setting set.

Symptoms

When playing with the Dead Liar the game freezes off and on completely when Caption in Video Settings is set to "With Always." There doesn't seem to be any problem if the Caption is set to "Without Always."

Reproduction

Press "Game Start" in the game launcher, after the game loads go to what the game calls "Tuning Dipsw" in main menu, then to "Video," and then set Caption to "With Always." Then exit and restart the game. Then play the game as Dead Liar, using the character's different attacks.

Symptoms

The full screen game window loads as a blank screen but may have artifacts on it like a gray square near the top left corner. The music plays and button presses seem to cause things to happen but the screen stays as a frozen blank screen.

Reproduction

Press "Play" in Steam and in the game launcher uncheck "Start in windowed mode." Then press "Game Start" in the launcher.

Start by reviewing the three linked Proton logs and reproducing the cutscene, caption, and fullscreen blank-screen cases using the stated launcher and in-game settings. No source file or test is identified; done would mean isolating the relevant compatibility cause and confirming that all three reported display or freeze symptoms no longer occur.
