Symptoms

When starting the game via Steam Play it reaches the main menu but occupies all CPU cores, spending most of its cpu-time in kernel mode.
This doesn't happen when starting the game with wine 7.0-rc4 from the command line, but then sound doesn't work.

Reproduction

The issue happens immediately when reaching the main menu. Lowering the graphics settings doesn't appear to make a difference.

Start with the attached steam-1049890.txt Proton log and reproduce the report on the listed Arch Linux/Mesa system, launching Little Witch Nobeta through Steam Play until the main menu. Compare the CPU behavior with the stated wine 7.0-rc4 command-line run and use the log to guide investigation; done means reaching the menu without saturating all CPU cores and with working sound.
