Description
Compatibility Report
- Name of the game with compatibility issues: Armored Front
- Steam AppID of the game: 1008950
System Information
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
- Driver/LLVM version: Mesa 21.3.0
- Kernel version: 5.15.3-220-tkg-bmq
- Link to full system information report as Gist: https://gist.github.com/Patola/7b647e9baf20e40cb64ccfd77cbb2b12
- Proton version: 6.3-7
- Note: tested in VR with the Oculus Quest 2 via ALVR. Before running the game, ran other game (Arizona Sunshine) to ensure VR was working correctly; after the game failed to start (waited for a couple minutes after the "play" button went back to green), ran Arizona Sunshine again and all was good.
- Note (2): I have a Valve Index that's out of service for the moment, will be back in a few weeks.
I confirm:
- that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
- that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms
- Game doesn't start in the VR headset, instead if starts in the monitor screen. All else seems to work: the controls are detected and respond correctly, you can interact and get to the main screen, even set options.
Reproduction
- Just start the game via SteamVR home or by pressing PLAY on the steam client. It shows the typical steamvr floating loading screen but never appears in the headset, with the SteamVR background taking the place. But it then appears on the monitor screen, the haptic joysticks' positions seems correct and you can even interact with the game, albeit cumbersomely, in that mode. Head tracking works correctly too. It's just that the image is not sent to the VR headset.

Research direction
No source file, test, or code entry point is identified. Start by reproducing Armored Front (Steam AppID 1008950) through SteamVR with Proton 6.3-7 and the reported VR setup, then compare headset and monitor behavior. Done means the game renders in the VR headset while controls and head tracking continue to work.
