Description

I simply can't use my keyboard to type stuff on the Steam overlay and it's only when using newer versions of Proton. I can make it come up, make it go away and I can play games with no issues, but I can't do any typing on the overlay.

Steam:
problem persists in every Proton version before 5.13-6
I also tried GE versions, same problem appears
Issue does not appear on native games

Hardware side:
Tried a different more basic keyboard, issue still persist.

Will try running a different desktop environment to see if the issue persists, because I don't remember encountering such a thing before installing KDE Plasma.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue with the Steam overlay in a game using a newer Proton version, comparing it with Proton 5.13-6 or earlier and a native game. Check whether the behavior changes outside KDE Plasma. Done means keyboard typing works reliably in the overlay while the game is running.
