Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Ceville
  • Steam AppID of the game: 23460

System Information

  • GPU: [AMD/ATI] Vega 10 XL/XT [Radeon RX Vega 56/64] (rev c3)
  • Driver/LLVM version: Mesa 21.2.1-1
  • Kernel version: 5.13.12
  • Proton version: 6.3-6

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

Game exists with Microsoft C++ runtime error when loading.
This game had issue on native Windows where you have to run it windowed or you get black screen, but this is not the issue under Proton.
Also when game installs it does complain about having to use Windows features to turn on/off .NET runtime 3.5. Is this still required to be installed when running with Wine/Mono?

Reproduction

  1. start game
  2. select "new game"
  3. wait loading to end into Microsoft C++ runtime error

Research direction

Start with the attached steam-23460.log and reproduce the failure by launching Ceville, selecting "new game," and waiting for the Microsoft C++ runtime error. Review the Proton compatibility behavior around the reported .NET 3.5 and Wine/Mono messages; done means identifying a supported compatibility path or documenting the remaining blocker.
