Description

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: GangV Battle Royale
  • Steam AppID of the game: 1342790

System Information

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

Previously this game was known to not run via Proton (reports from 2 months ago). Made with Unity Engine. Now it starts, shows the waiting screen, it shows some bird noises then it crashes to the desktop.

Reproduction

  • Just launch the game. Wait the splash screen, the "loading" info screens, then the game initializes sound and looks like it will start, but crashes.
  • Notes:
  • the first two times I tried to launch the game after installing , it crashed immediately taking steam with it (but, strangely, not steamvr)
  • Attached are two logs: one with Proton 6.3-5 and the other with Proton Experimental. Both done in a clean installation (e.g. removed compatdata/1342790 before running).
    steam-1342790-proton-6.3-5.log
    steam-1342790-proton-experimental.log

Research direction

Start by reviewing steam-1342790-proton-6.3-5.log and steam-1342790-proton-experimental.log, then reproduce the crash from a clean compatdata/1342790 installation using the reported Proton versions. Compare the launch behavior and logs to identify the compatibility failure; done means the game reaches its playable state without crashing.
