Symptoms

This game has always worked correctly with Steam Proton, however the latest versions cause severe stutter in online matches.
If you try the “Training” and “Race” modes the problem does not arise, so I think it is not related to the weak hardware.
Also, up to Proton 5.0-10 the game does not have this issue.

Reproduction

Install the game and play online matches, even with bots, using either Proton 5.13-x or 6.3-1.

No source file or test is named. Start by reproducing online matches with Proton 5.13-x or 6.3-1, then compare the attached PROTON_LOG=1 logs with behavior under Proton 5.0-10 and in Training or Race modes. Done would require identifying an actionable regression or a clearly scoped code area.
