Steam will not launch some games at all throug proton

Symptoms

All three games look to attempt launching, run briefly, then stop. I do know each use some kind of prelaunch graphic or launcher so maybe those are causing it? But I can't find info anywhere on how to fix it. Each game seemingly runs fine on most hardware according to protondb.
Note: I'm still pretty new to using Linux.

Start by reading the three attached Proton logs for AppIDs 397540, 489830, and 1091500, using the reported Proton 5.13-4 environment as context. Compare their launch failures and verify whether the prelaunch launchers are involved. Done would require identifying a reproducible cause and confirming that the affected games launch successfully.
