Description

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Stormworks: Build and Rescue
  • Steam AppID of the game: 573090

System Information

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game. (there was one, but it is unrelated)
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Proton log:

The file was 55.4MB, so I have uploaded it to Google Drive and included the link below. Sorry.

Symptoms

The game launches fine and appears to run fine, with everything in the menus being clickable and working properly. When you load in to a game, the 3D camera is not fine. Small mouse movements cause the camera to spazz out and jump around everywhere. This makes the game completely unplayable. It used to work alright, but I think some combination of Proton and system software updates broke it. I attempted to perform regression testing but could not make it work on older kernel versions etc either.

Reproduction

Launch the game, start a new save or load an existing one, attempt to look around once loaded. It will not follow your mouse movements.

Research direction

Start with the reported Proton log and the reproduction steps: launch Stormworks, enter a save, and test camera movement. The issue provides no source file or test entry point; done means identifying and fixing the compatibility cause so small mouse movements produce normal camera movement.
