I confirm:
- that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
- that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms
The game does not launch. The error appears to be related to one of the Visual C++ Redistributable DLLs:
Unhandled exception: unimplemented function api-ms-win-crt-multibyte-l1-1-0._mbscmp_l called in 32-bit code (0x7b00dd67).
I did a little investigation and the dll appears to exist in the compatdata folder, so there may be an issue with the dll in use or something else about the installation. Or there may be other errors I missed as a result of focusing on this one.
Reproduction
Attempting to launch the game should cause a near-immediate crash.

Research direction
Start by reading the linked steam-1299320.log and the reported api-ms-win-crt-multibyte-l1-1-0._mbscmp_l exception, then reproduce the near-immediate crash with Proton 5.0-9. Done means Midnight Castle Succubus launches without this unimplemented-function failure.
