Symptoms

Music plays but the screen is entirely black. Attempting to use a controller/keyboard/mouse doesn't provide any feedback (ie. audio) to indicate that it's performing any actions. Alt-tabbing and returning to the game does not fix the black screen.

However, the game does run under Proton 4.11-13 and apparently at full speed. The only issue I ran into with it was the window flickering (as if the window was being unfullscreen and re-fullscreened) when moving between rooms and the (XFCE) panels ending up on top of the window. It doesn't affect playability however. Running the game directly under a fresh wine install (5.0) also appears to work as well as 4.11-13.

Reproduction

Run the game, it should enter fullscreen and music should start playing, but, the screen will remain black.

Start with the attached steam-1083310.log and reproduce the game launch on Proton 5.0-9, comparing it with Proton 4.11-13 and a fresh Wine 5.0 install. Done means OUTBUDDIES DX displays its game screen instead of remaining black while music plays.
