Symptoms

I click on "Play" and the following occurs

• Origin opens momentarily and closes
• Origin opens momentarily again with the message "Origin cannot install games in this folder"
• Origin closes quickly
• Nothing else happens, however the steam client believes that the game process is still running
• Last few lines of log file linked repeat infinitely

Reproduction

• install game
• open game

Start by reproducing the report on Debian with the listed R9 390, Mesa 20.0.7, kernel 5.6.0-2-amd64, and Proton 5 setup. Review the linked log and the repeated final lines after Origin reports that it cannot install games in the folder. Done means Dragon Age: Inquisition launches without Origin closing and Steam no longer reports a stuck process.
