Symptoms

The game starts fine. Then, by default the launch screen will open as a 'borderless window'. In this mode, the mouse cursor is not rendered and non functional. The options menu can be selected with the keyboard and the presentation changed to 'fullscreen'.
In 'fullscreen' the mouse cursor does render, but is non-functional, i.e. button presses do not register. This makes the game borderline unusable.
Launching the game in an X-session does not suffer from this issue.

Reproduction

Start the game in a wayland session.

Start by reproducing the issue in a Wayland session with Proton 5.0-6 or 4.11-13, then inspect steam-882100.log. Compare borderless and fullscreen behavior, and use the X-session result as a baseline. Done means the cursor is rendered and accepts button presses in both display modes under Wayland.
