Description

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Vanguard Princess
  • Steam AppID of the game: 262150

System Information

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

steam-262150.log

Symptoms

Game does not start. You can see a new window flicker for a split second, but nothing comes of it. PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 doesn't work either.

There technically is a "native" version of the game, but all it is is the Windows version pre-packaged with old Wine binaries (also now out-of-date). This version also crashes at startup.

Reproduction

Just launch the game. Always reproducable.

Research direction

Start with the attached steam-262150.log and reproduce the failure by launching Steam AppID 262150 with Proton 5.0-6-rc3; the report also notes that PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 fails. Done means Vanguard Princess starts reliably under Proton, but the payload names no source file or test to guide an implementation.
