Description
Compatibility Report
- Name of the game with compatibility issues: Boneworks
- Steam AppID of the game: 823500
System Information
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti
- Driver/LLVM version: 440.31
- Kernel version: 4.12.14-lp151.28.36-default
- Link to full system information report: https://gist.github.com/Kartoffelsaft/ef74171f7dc9132b849459c450ea85f3
- Proton version: 4.11-11
I confirm:
- that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
- that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms
Large, open areas tend to have very poor framerate. Other, smaller areas also have issues but are still manageable. Looking at my CPU load, it seems to be partially unused which tells me that it is pinning the GPU.
Reproduction
Load the game into a level other than the main menu (esp. streets)

Research direction
Reproduce the report by loading Boneworks with Proton 4.11-11 in a level such as Streets, then inspect steam-823500.log and the linked system information report. Compare the framerate and CPU/GPU behavior in large and smaller areas; done would require identifying and resolving the reported poor performance, but the issue names no source file or test.
