Description
Compatibility Report
- Name of the game with compatibility issues: Bloodrayne
- Steam AppID of the game: https://steamdb.info/app/3810/
System Information
- GPU: GTX 760
- Driver/LLVM version: NVIDIA 440.44
- Kernel version: 5.4.3
- https://github.com/shoober420/linux-scripts/blob/main/home/shoober420/sysinfonvidia
- Proton version: 4.11-10
Symptoms
Works out of the box, but runs better with d3d8to9 (https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9). You must use WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d8=n" PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 as launch options.
I didn’t whitelist request yet because one is met with several error messages at launch, because of the intro movies (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9127).
Reproduction
Launch game

Research direction
Start by launching Bloodrayne (Steam AppID 3810) under Proton 4.11-10 and compare default behavior with the reported d3d8to9 and launch options. Read the linked Wine intro-movie bug and d3d8to9 project; done means identifying a Proton-side fix or documenting the compatibility result.
