Symptoms

The game's intro video plays but no game window will appear until it is done playing. You can hear the video play in the background. Once the intro video is done playing the game will appear in full screen and drop you in the main menu and then you can continue playing the game like normal. Other in-game videos do not appear to be affected by this issue.

Graphical quality is significantly better with D9VK then with WineD3D. However performance with D9VK is also much lower and frequently drops below 20fps.

Reproduction

Just launch the game.

Notes

Older versions of Proton/Mesa had various graphical bugs with this game.

Research direction

Start by launching Men of Valor (Steam AppID 411330) with Proton 4.11-9 and compare the attached WineD3D and D9VK logs. The report describes an intro-video window delay and D9VK performance below 20 FPS; done would require a confirmed compatibility improvement.
