Reproduction
The menu will load but upon loading one of the included games you will get a black screen. With standard proton and launch options the audio is also currently broken.
Symptoms
This is another game that will require WMV support to properly function.
Inside of the folders such as: "Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2/nativeDX10/X5/movie" you will find the videos. If you delete the videos the game will check for them and crash with an error pop-up, but if you replace the video files with 0 byte files the games will be playable.
With 4.11-9 however the audio won't work unless you use wineD3D ( mesa_glthread=true PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%). Using my tkg staging proton build however the audio works without needing it. So there is some patch that might need to be pulled into proton. This is a weird bug however as it cannot allocate memory.
After getting past the videos I don't see any other issues with the gameplay, control, graphics, etc. Probably runs better than windows since many windows users complain of framerate problems, inability to set resolution, control issues, etc. I have no trouble setting 1080p/1440p here or borderless window mode.

Research direction
Start with the linked steam-743900-stagingAudio.log, steam-743900-audio.log, and steam-743900-noAudio.log, then reproduce the black screen with Proton 4.11-9 or staging 4.21. Inspect the WMV files under the game's nativeDX10/X5/movie path and compare behavior with zero-byte replacements and the listed launch options. Done means the included games load with their videos and audio working without the reported workaround.
