Symptoms
Game run out of the box, and seems to be working fine (render, sound, and, etc) of 2 - 3 hours of testing with no crash, but suffers from the same performance issue with SMT like The Forest (unity engine), disabling SMT can improve performance a bit but still nowhere near windows performance (~20 fps compared to windows).
Log also have fixme entry.

Research direction
Review the attached steam-666140.log and the reported Proton 4.2-4 environment, then reproduce the game launch with SMT enabled and disabled. Done would require a clear diagnosis of the performance gap and an identified compatibility improvement; the report does not name a source file or test to modify.
