Description

Feature Request

Virtualization Technology (VT) for games and apps

I confirm:

  • [X ] that I haven't found another request for this feature.
  • [X ] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available that
    contain this feature already.

Description

I tried to run KOPLAYER (an android emulator) and it got stuck at 99% loading and then showed me a message that VT is disabled (which is not because I have enabled it in UEFI myself and if it were disabled, Virtualbox wouldn't run). A friend of mine said I should post a feature request here.
For better understanding of the problem you can run it on your system with Proton 4.2-2 and see for yourselves.

Justification [optional]

Almost everything is OK, just VT doesn't seem to be recognized, whereas the app won't run with Wine at all (stable 4.0), so I figured it would be better to complete the set in Proton.

Risks [optional]

None that I know of.

Research direction

No source file or test is named. Start by reproducing KOPLAYER under Proton 4.2-2 and investigate how its VT detection behaves when virtualization is enabled in UEFI; done would mean the app recognizes VT and no longer reports it as disabled.
