Symptoms
I have an arcade stick (Razer Panthera Evo Arcade Stick for PS4) that is properly recognized by the system, but not in the steam controller settings.
When I make any input on that device, the game crashes. This does not happen in native games or when I use proton 3.7-8. The controller works properly in proton 3.7-8, despite not being detected in steam.
I tried this with Tekken 7 and Ni No Kuni 2.
Reproduction
- Connect the controller
- Start a game using proton 4.2-2
- Push a button

Research direction
Start by reviewing steam-389730.log and comparing controller handling between Proton 4.2-2 and Proton 3.7-8. Reproduce with the Razer Panthera Evo arcade stick in Tekken 7 or Ni No Kuni 2; done means pressing a button no longer crashes the game.
