  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

steam-33460.log

Symptoms

When I launch the game, Uplay starts, then an ESRB message is displayed, then the ubisoft jingle begins playing, now the game crashes.
I have to manually kill upc.exe afterwards, but I guess this is normal at the moment.

I have checked the enormous log for error messages:

ERROR:viz_main_impl.cc(201)] Exiting GPU process due to errors during initialization
err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution.
warn:debugstr:OutputDebugStringA "[0406/155434.656:ERROR:browser_gpu_channel_host_factory.cc(119)] Failed to launch GPU process.\n"
ERROR:gpu_process_transport_factory.cc(1026)] Lost UI shared context.
warn:debugstr:OutputDebugStringA "D:\\JenkinsWorkspace\\workspace\\client_build_release\\client\\shared\\libs\\biz\\mg\\biz\\ChannelListener.cpp(78) : Lost connection to channel. Error: 8.\n"
err:esync:__esync_wait_objects Polling on fd 54 returned 0x20.
warn:debugstr:OutputDebugStringA "D:\\JenkinsWorkspace\\workspace\\client_build_release\\client\\shared\\libs\\biz\\mg\\biz\\ChannelListener.cpp(103) : Bad response proto: request_id: 6\nget_invites_received_rsp {\n response_code: ResponseCode_InternalServerError\n}\n\n"

Reproduction

100% on each launch

Research direction

Start by reviewing steam-33460.log alongside the linked system-information report and the reported Proton 4.2-2 environment. Reproduce the launch sequence for From Dust and verify whether the crash occurs after the Ubisoft jingle. Done means the game launches without crashing and does not require manually killing upc.exe.
