Description

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Lost Planet 3
  • Steam AppID of the game: 226720

System Information

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M
  • Driver/LLVM version: NVIDIA 410.48
  • Kernel version: 3.10.0-957.1.3.el7.x86_64
    steam-226720.log
  • Proton version: 3.16-6 Beta

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Instructions

The campaign, multiplayer and cinematic run smoothly. Controller is appropriately responsive. The game will however not run without the following changes.

  • Update DXVK to 0.96
  • Reinstall dotNET 4.0 using protontricks

Symptoms

Some textures (snow in particular) are missing. The cinematic is pixelated.

Reproduction

Run the game and the missing textures will show up during the playable intro (outside, in the snow). The textures are generally alright underground.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the playable intro in Lost Planet 3 with Proton 3.16-6 Beta and review steam-226720.log alongside the reported NVIDIA and Linux versions. Check whether the missing snow textures and pixelated cinematics are affected by the noted DXVK 0.96 and dotNET changes; done means the reported rendering issues are resolved without those manual workarounds.
